In all aspects of her life single mothers have to be independent. Each day of a single mother’s life is a challenge for her. Nowadays single mothers know very well that they have to struggle for the future of her children alone. They know the prime importance of education and skills for financial stability. All the states in America are formulating strategies to help single mothers. The state of Indiana has also taken steps to help single mothers. Several college grants for single mothers living in Indiana have been introduced.In Indiana, many social service organizations and public institutions are also working for the welfare of single moms.
List of college grants for single mothers living in Indiana are as follow:
LINDA CRAIG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
Linda Craig scholarship offers scholarships to those single moms who are undergraduate student, studying at any Indiana college and universities having majors regarding medicine, sports medicine or physical and massage therapy.
MINORITY TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP:
The minority teacher Scholarship is started by Indiana General Assembly in 1988 due to extreme shortage of Black and Hispanic teachers in Indiana. Twenty first century Scholars program is a program developed for such students who prepare for college from 7th and 8th grades.
HOOSIER SCHOLARSHIP:
Hoosier Scholarship program is a merit based financial assistance offered to beginners. The financial assistance is of $500.
NURSING SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
It is a scholarship program for single moms who are undergraduate students and have majors regarding nursing subjects.
INDIANA BROADCASTERS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:
This program offers financial assistance to single moms who are undergraduate students and have majors regarding journalism or broadcasting. This scholarship is awarded to 14 students every year. The awarded scholarship is from $500 to $2000.
INDIANA SCHOLARSHIP:
Ever year $1000 is awarded to needy beginner undergraduates studying in any of the Indiana college.
INDIANA ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP:
Each year three engineering students get this scholarship and the amount is $750.
INDIANA FARM BUREAU INSURANCE EXCEL AWARDS:
This scholarship is for six undergraduate Indiana residents and the scholarship amount is $2000 to $3000.
All the above mentioned grants are developed to encourage single mothers to continue their education so that they can become financially stable.
